Science Museum Adventure

Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2 October 2026

The short version. Science Museum Adventure is a science museum game for children and adults, made by Viewport Studio.

  • We never collect anything that says who you or your child are. We collect no name, email address, phone number, photo, voice, location, contacts, advertising ID or payment information. There are no accounts, and nothing in the game asks a child to type anything.
  • There are no ads, and no tracking. We don’t follow anyone across other apps or websites, and we don’t sell, rent or trade data to anyone.
  • We do collect a small amount of anonymous play data. It records things like which rooms were visited and which games were finished, so we can see what’s fun and what’s confusing. This page explains exactly what that data is, who handles it, how long we keep it, and how to ask us to delete it.

What we collect, and why

We record anonymous product-analytics events through a service called Mixpanel. We don’t use Mixpanel’s software kit. The app sends a short, fixed list of facts that we chose ourselves.

A random install ID. The first time the app opens, it makes a random code and keeps it on the device. It isn’t your Apple ID, the device’s serial number or the advertising ID, and nothing about the device is used to make it. It lets us see how far one player gets, for example whether people who finish the Dinosaur Wing go on to the Space Wing. Deleting the app deletes the code, and a reinstall makes a new one that can’t be linked to the old one.

Play events. These record things that happen in the game:

  • The app was opened.
  • The intro played.
  • A room was entered or restored.
  • A museum piece was found or placed.
  • A mini-game was started, levelled up, finished or left.
  • The Field Guide or the menu was used.

We also record the steps of the “Unlock the Full Museum” screen, technical errors so we can fix them, basic details such as the app version and which room the player is in, and a simple per-install summary of progress. None of it includes the device model, location or any device identifier.

In-app purchase

The Dinosaur Wing is free. The Space and Inventions Wings’ games are part of a one-time In-App Purchase, Unlock the Full Museum. It sits behind a check that only a grown-up should be able to answer.

Apple handles every purchase. We never see your name, your Apple Account, your payment details or your address. Apple only tells the app whether this device’s Apple Account owns the unlock. If Family Sharing is on, that covers everyone in your family group. Apple’s own privacy policy covers the purchase itself: apple.com/legal/privacy.

What stays on the device

These are stored only on the device, and are erased when the app is deleted:

  • Your child’s game progress.
  • The Music and Sound settings.
  • A note of whether the full museum is unlocked.

Children

Science Museum Adventure is made for children, and we built it to collect as little as possible:

  • We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children, as the US Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the GDPR define it.
  • The only identifier is the random install ID. We use it only to understand and improve the game: it is never used to contact anyone, to build an advertising profile, or for any kind of advertising.
  • Purchases and the one link that leaves the app (to this page) sit behind a grown-ups check.

Who handles the data

  • Mixpanel, Inc. stores the analytics events for us on servers in the United States. It acts as our service provider: it may only use the data to provide its service to us, under terms that require it to protect the data at least as carefully as this policy does. Mixpanel’s privacy policy: mixpanel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
  • Apple handles purchases, as described above.

We share the data with no one else. We don’t sell it.

How long we keep it

We keep analytics events for up to two years, and then they are deleted. The per-install summary is deleted at the same time as the events tied to it.

Your choices, and deleting the data

  • Delete the app. Its random install ID goes with it, and nothing collected afterwards can be linked to what came before.
  • Ask us to delete it. Email gidonravner@gmail.com to have the analytics data from your family’s device deleted, and we’ll delete it within 30 days. Because we never know who anyone is, it helps to tell us roughly when and on what kind of device the app was played.
  • Play offline. The game plays fully offline. While the device is offline nothing is sent: events wait on the device and go out the next time it’s online, and anything older than five days is discarded instead.

Changes and contact

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. For any question about privacy in Science Museum Adventure, write to gidonravner@gmail.com.
